Since our founding, Men & Women of Character has been dedicated to creating lasting change in the lives of youth, families, and elders in Metropolitan Trenton, New Jersey. We measure our success not only in the numbers of individuals we serve, but in the profound personal growth, confidence, and stability fostered within our community. Empowering youth, shaping future leaders
One of our most important accomplishments is providing consistent mentorship, leadership training, and life skills development to youth ages 8 through 18. Many youth we serve face challenges such as limited access to positive role models and opportunities for personal growth. Through our Youth of Action & Character and Youth Empowerment Saturday programs, youth gain confidence, develop leadership skills, and learn to believe in their potential. They thrive in a safe, supportive environment, becoming more engaged, responsible, and hopeful about their future. Many now volunteer, demonstrating leadership and commitment to their community.
Providing essential support & demonstrating our reach
Men & Women of Character has helped thousands of individuals and families by providing essential resources, meals, and supplies during difficult times. Through our Feeding Our Friends initiative and Sharing Our Ruby Program, we feed over 2,500 individuals annually and provide hygiene supplies, clothing, and essential necessities to youth, elders, and families. Our programs also host multiple community events each year, including youth empowerment programs, community feeding events, and elder appreciation gatherings, fostering vital connection and support. This critical support reduces hardship, ensures dignity, and builds a foundation for stability, helping parents and individuals thrive.
Honoring elders, strengthening community bonds
Our Elders of Wisdom, Legacy & Character program ensures that elders remain connected, respected, and valued. Many elders face isolation and loneliness, but through our elder engagement programs, social gatherings, and special events such as our Thanksgiving Dinner and community celebrations, elders have opportunities to connect, share their wisdom, and feel appreciated. These efforts strengthen intergenerational relationships and preserve valuable knowledge and life experiences, helping elders maintain emotional well-being and connection within our community.
